I have a typical coat-hating teenager, with all the normal reasons for disliking coats – the bus gets hot in the afternoon, the lockers are too small, it’s too bulky…
But this one she will wear. It’s crushable enough that she can stuff it in her backpack when she’s too warm, it fits in the locker, it doesn’t feel bulky, but yet even when the temperatures fall below freezing it’s enough to keep her warm on the long walk to the bus stop in the mornings.
This is my third time buying her a Thermo Ball, and it was sure easier on the wallet when she wore kids sizes in whatever fun discontinued color I found on clearance, but I appreciate knowing that this probably isn’t going to tear or break while she owns it, or while her cousin, or her cousin’s little sister, owns it later.
It runs pretty true to size. She’s 5’3” so it hits her just below the hip (the model must be pretty tall). Chest is a 34 A and she can still move if she has a thick sweatshirt on under it. (The XS that this is replacing still fits, but looks and feels very snug) .
She’s normally a small or medium in the trendy Juniors mall shops, but XS or Small in ladies sizes.

I always wear this jacket when walking to class as a college student and it keeps me super warm! I love that it has a hood and the pockets zip up, and it also has an inside pocket! It has definitely made its way to my favorite winter jacket for this season! When I first wore it around my friends they all raved about it and asked where it was from and said that it flatters me so well! Definitely recommend.

I had used borrowed (another brand) downfeather jacket on my trip to the Himalayas two years back. Sherpas also lent hired jackets though useful but were heavy. The heavy jackets made moving so difficult and the downfeather didnt go down well with my sensibilities. Having seen Northface with some of my colleagues and expecting to do lot more travels – i wanted to buy one but somehow couldnt get access to the entire line on India sites. Thus on my recent visit – finally got what i wanted and am an proud owner of a beautiful Northface planet friendly, lightweight ,coldweather and wetspell resistant – along with a beautiful neutral colour and a hoodie. Its just so complete. Feeling extremely assured, safe and prepeared on my trips. can enjoy the trip rather than worrying about the jacket. The wait is over.

This jacket keeps me super warm! When the hoodie is zipped up, it is way warmer than when it’s unzipped, so I can adjust how warm I want to be with ease. I absolutely love the color because it’s neutral but also different than a basic grey. The sleeves are a little shorter than I’d like but I’m 6′ and otherwise the medium is a perfect fit.

I bought this in anticipation of winter getaway to somewhere warm. I was specifically looking for something that could slip into my carryon with ease. This jacket is amazing- light and the slim fit is great. I’m petite so it hits probably mid bum but all the other proportions are what I had hoped and I’ll get used to the length. 4’11” and 112-18#, I got the small and there is just enough room for a couple light layers. I think this will be a great addition for DC weather.

This will be my third one since 2012. It’s just the right weight to wear winter daytimes in my area when working outside, layers up nice for windy days or if I have to stand around. Down is a pain, thermoball is easy washing. My only beef is I tear it when splitting wood, hauling live traps around, etc. But would it layer so well if heavier fabric was used? Nope.
